Is the crease worse or the blacked D-pillar that makes it look like it has a flapping toupee.

To make it "Sporty"

I fucking hate cheap black trim. Looks so ugly.

I mean, because of that crease, it’s basically a Lambo, dude.

the worst is still the stubby ugly rounded butt that has less practicality than a shoe box.

Dynamic, bold, stylish.
Cut me some slack, i’m trying to throw marketing buzzwords around.

That nose needs to be on a low low 6 wagon...

Because Mazda needed to be edgier than Nissan. They succeeded, as I think this is much uglier than the Juke, yet less interesting.

I test drove a CX-3 when we were shopping for my fiancee’s car. I don’t mind the looks, but I still really dislike the CX-3.
To me, a small crossover (a.k.a. slightly-tall hatchback) is supposed to give you good fuel economy, awd, a lot of space efficiency for both passengers and cargo, and should be generally pleasant to drive in a non-performance kind of way.
The CX-3 back seat is borderline unusable. I’m 5'11" and with the driver’s seat adjusted for myself, I could barely get in back, and my legs were splayed out to the sides of the back seat, because there was no way to fit them behind the seat. The trunk is also tiny, it has a ridiculously high beltline and cowl, overly small windows, terrible sight lines, and a too-stiff ride in the name of sportiness. It’s a 146 hp tall hatchback, it’s not fast, and there’s no reason the ride should be that stiff.
We ended up with a Subaru Impreza hatchback, which is also not a large car. It’s 6 inches longer than the CX-3 and has a 3 inch longer wheelbase. 4 adults fit in it just fine. I’ve ridden in the back on multiple occasions and it’s a perfectly decent place to sit. We can fit a bunch of crap inside with the seats flipped down, and it has a nice smooth ride.
We also checked out the Honda HR-V, which is only 1 inch longer than the CX-3 and has a 1.7" longer wheelbase. The back seat legroom in the HR-V is downright expansive.
There’s just no excuse for the lack of room inside the CX-3.

The CX-3 is a bloated Mazda 2. If you want space (and performance, economy, looks) get the Mazda 3 instead. It’s significantly larger than the CX-3.

Isn’t the HRV pretty good? I sat in the back and front seat at the car show and was pleasantly surprised by it. Definitely spacious and the build quality was really good.

Yeah the HR-V is plenty roomy. We avoided it because we were leasing—her commute is super short—and Honda wasn’t subsidizing leases, at least not yet. For an HR-V EX-L It would’ve been about $100/month more than the payment on her Impreza Sport Limited, even though both sticker around $27k.

We wanted an awd car and there’s no awd Mazda 3.
The CX-3, compared to the other vehicles against which it directly competes, has way too little room inside.

I hear you, Honda doesn’t really GAF about subsidizing because they know they’ll sell them regardless lol

They do it on Civics and Accords for sure. Her last car was a base Civic LX and that was only $160/month. But on HR-V, CR-V, Pilot and Odyssey, nope, no such luck.

Sorry I meant for the HRV because it’s new!

Why, dammit? Why?!?!
You could ask that about the existence of the CX-3 in general...
